Medical education during the Covid-19 pandemic: satisfaction of international students with e-learning

Abstract

Introduction. In 2020, the Coronavirus pandemic posed the greatest challenge to the medical education and healthcare systems worldwide. The first case of Covid-19 epidemic in Georgia was recorded on 26th February, 2020. During the spring semester of the 2019/2020 academic year, teaching/learning process was conducted remotely in all higher education institutions of the country, including Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU). Objectives. The aim of the research is to investigate the satisfaction of international students of TSU, Faculty of Medicine with online learning and to identify ways to solve the revealed problems. Methodology. Quantitative research methods were used to conduct the survey. The survey was carried out in the fall semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. Results and discussion. Based on the research, the level of satisfaction of international students and their needs were revealed and appropriate recommendations were developed.
