Abstract

Introduction. Young age is a risk factors for road traffic accidents, respectively the level of awareness toward road traffic safety issues and the frequent violation of rules make the students even more vulnerable group. Objectives. The aim of the study is to explore the attitudes of the students regarding road traffic safety issues in Georgia. Methodology. Special questionnaire was designed for the survey. Students from seven Georgian Higher Institution in six cities were interviewed. Results. Students across Georgia are not well informed about the road traffic safety issues. Students cannot truly evaluate how severe results of various risk behavior can be. Students cannot assess the risks associated with car crash and cannot identify various risk behaviors. Conclusion. It is important to raise the awareness of the students toward road traffic safety issues via different campaign in social media, internet and educational programs.
