The covid-19 pandemic and mental health

The current article provides a narrative review of published scientific literature on the COVID-19 pandemic and mental health issues. The paper describes the effects new coronavirus-induced infectious processes and pandemic-related stress have on mental health and the nervous system as the anatomical substrate of mental functions. The article discusses who meets the risk groups and what factors mediate the development of the changes revealed in research data. In summary, the review involves practical recommendations developed by various scientific groups based on existing data and a list of issues that would be important and useful for future research.
