Abstract

Continuous medical education is part of the continuous professional development of physicians and provides effective system of its competence. Continuous medical education in Georgia is not functioning as a system. The purpose of the work is to establish direct connection between the effectiveness of continuous medical education and the quality of medical services delivery, the analysis of the developmental perspectives at the level of voluntary continuing medical education system in Georgia, its shortcomings, legislation. Methodology. The study of the knowledge-dependence of doctors towards continuous medical education was carried out by quantitative methods and the qualitative research of the employers (directors of the medical institution). Results and discussion. In Georgia there is a need to create continuous medical education and continuous professional development systems. Studies have shown the willingness of medical personnel to engage in this process. The study clearly demonstrated the direct correlation between patient safety, quality of service and continuous medical education. Conclusion. It is necessary to develop hospital accreditation standards and to use the best foreign experience in this regard. Accreditation will provide positive and fertile grounding for the effective functioning of continuous medical education. It is necessary to create a physician rating system that will be based on international classification of continuing medical education.
