Abstract

Introduction. In Georgia, patient’s referral rate to family physician is low. The research aim is to study the problem of a low rate of the patient’s referral to family physician. Methodology. Under a semi-structured questionnaire family physicians and beneficiaries were surveyed in different cities of Georgia. Results. Research has shown that patients have low confidence in the family physician's competence. Due to inadequate compensation, family doctors do not have enough motivation to carry out proper service. Conclusion. It is recommended to raise public awareness about family physician, to increase the role of continuous professional education.
