Health Care Challenges for the LGBTQ Community

The lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community around the world faces challenges and barriers to accessing health services, with research showing that LGBTQ people often experience poor quality services in health systems that do not meet their specific needs. Critical issues such as a heterocentric health care environment, lack of provider knowledge of LGBTQ health disparities, stigma, discrimination, and poverty were also identified. This highlights the need for comprehensive, inclusive, accessible healthcare services for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or health status.
